I can help you

  • Recognise and reject diet culture
  • Reconnect with your body’s internal signals and eat according to hunger, fullness and satiety
  • Let go of unhelpful food rules
  • Find ways to be kind and compassionate towards yourself
  • Enjoy eating
  • Feel calmer around food
  • Nourish your body with a wide range of food
  • Accept your body and care for it, exactly as it is, right now
  • Live a fulfilling life not dictated by the scale
  • Work out which foods make your body feel good if you have a medical condition like PCOS or IBS

 How does it all work?

Because I offer personalised information and counselling, one person’s initial nutrition counselling session might look very different to yours. But generally, during our first couple of sessions, we will chat about your health and medical background, your current eating patterns, your thoughts and beliefs around food and your body, foods you enjoy, your lifestyle and identify any barriers that might stand in the way of achieving your goals. From there we will work out what you most want to get out of working together.

In subsequent sessions we can talk about how things have been going in the ‘real world’, the strategies you have tried, what obstacles you have come across and any revelations you have had. It is the chance to take stock, reflect and re-evaluate and make any adjustments your priorities, goals and plans so that you have exactly what you need to promote health and wellbeing.

In my practice I use Intuitive Eating and Health At Every Size®  approaches.

As a sole practitioner, I am usually in session with clients during business hours and am therefore unfortunately unavailable to take appointment enquiries via phone. The quickest way to organise an appointment or phone call, is to complete the new client appointment enquiry form. You will receive an email back within 2-3 business days with information regarding appointment availability and all the necessary paperwork for your first session.

Where is Nina located?

All sessions are conducted via Telehealth using Zoom. That way it doesn’t matter where you are located, we can still work together. Plus you don’t have to worry about getting stuck in traffic, finding a carpark, or even getting out of your PJs!

Medicare/Insurance/Fees

If you are eligible, your Doctor may issue you with a Chronic Disease Management Plan (aka Care Plan or CDM), Team Care Arrangement (aka TCA) or Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDP). With a valid Care Plan, TCA or EDP, you will be eligible for a rebate from Medicare.  Currently, this rebate is $55.10. Please note that I do not bulk bill and you will incur out of pocket fees.

Rebates may be available through your private health fund. The rebate will depend on your level of cover. Please call your private health fund to see what rebate you will be entitled to.

Please complete the appointment enquiry form to learn more about my fees as these may vary depending on your individual circumstances.

Session Length All sessions run for 45-50 minutes.

Referrals You do not need a referral to work with me via Telehealth, unless you are wanting to claim a Medicare rebate.

Payment Due to the nature of virtual consultations, payment is required upfront.

Cancellation Policy When you make an appointment, that time is set aside for your exclusive use. Failure to attend your appointment is a loss for yourself and limits availability for other clients. Therefore, a minimum of 48 hours’ notice during business hours is required to cancel or reschedule a session. Please note that cancellations or re-schedules made with less than 48 hours notice or missed sessions will incur a late notice fee. This is payable before further appointments can be made and will not be covered by your private health fund or Medicare. You may also be required to pay for your next appointment upfront.

you might be wondering about weight loss…

It is reeeeeeally common for people who are looking to step away from dieting to still have a part of themselves that wants to change their body for a whole number of reasons.

So, if you are feeling like you are stuck at this crossroad, please know you are not alone and this is perfectly normal.

But since we know that dieting doesn’t work, what are your options?

As an evidence-based practitioner, it is my role to support you to understand the evidence for and against different approaches and empower you to find ways to stop dieting and take care of yourself without focussing on weight loss.

frequently asked questions

will you help me lose weight?

As an evidence-based practitioner, it is my role to support you to understand the evidence for and against different approaches and empower you to find ways to stop dieting and take care of yourself without focussing on weight loss. That is not to say if you are looking to lose weight, we can’t work together. Most of my clients want to quit dieting, enjoy eating and look after their body AND want to change their body at the same time.

For our time together, I will just ask that you put your desire for weight loss on the back burner, so that we can focus on more achievable and sustainable goals that will be truly health promoting for you.[sc_fs_faq sc_id=”fs_faqpi4z3qviw” html=”false” headline=”h2″ img=”” question=”Will you help me lose weight?” img_alt=”” css_class=”” ]As an evidence-based practitioner, it is my role to support you to understand the evidence for and against different approaches and empower you to find ways to stop dieting and take care of yourself without focussing on weight loss. can I do intuitive eating and want to lose weight at the same time?

I can definitely appreciate that you may want to do intuitive eating and lose weight at the same time. However, intuitive eating is a not a weight loss strategy and working on becoming an intuitive eater AND wanting to lose weight at the same time can complicate things. For our time together, I will just ask that you put your desire for weight loss on the back burner, so that we can focus on more achievable and sustainable goals that will be truly health promoting for you.

do I need a referral?

No, you do not need a referral to work with a Dietitian.

can I claim money back on Medicare?

Face-to-face: If you are eligible, your Doctor may issue you with a Chronic Disease Management Plan (aka Care Plan or CDM), Team Care Arrangement (aka TCA) or Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDP). With a valid Care Plan, TCA or EDP, you will be eligible for a rebate from Medicare.  Currently, this rebate is $55.10. Please note that I do not bulk bill and you will incur out of pocket fees.

Telehealth: Medicare does not currently allow Dietitians to see clients on Chronic Disease Management plans or Team Care Arrangements via telehealth. Therefore, you will not be eligible for a Medicare rebate if we work together. **PLEASE NOTE COVID-19 REBATES ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR TELEHEALTH. PLEASE GET IN TOUCH TO SEE IF YOU QUALIFY**

can I claim money back on my private health insurance?

Rebates may be available through your private health fund. The rebate will depend on your level of cover. Please call your private health fund to see what rebate you will be entitled to.

how many appointments will I need?

Improving your relationship with food and body, or learning to become an intuitive eater, is not a quick fix process. Without knowing more about your medical and diet history, I cannot accurately predict the number of appointments you will need. However, clients looking to achieve these types of goals typically work with non-diet Dietitians for anywhere between 6-18 months.

can I get a meal plan from you?

I value your time and money too much to waste it writing you a meal plan that you are unlikely to follow long term. I much prefer to use our time together working on achievable and sustainable ways to reach your goals that will be truly health promoting for you. This may involve discussing different food options, recipes, meal planning etc that fit within your budget, lifestyle and most importantly, your taste buds!

do you work with people who have eating disorders?

Yes. I only work with adults (age 18+) that are medically stable. Please complete the new client appointment enquiry form so that we can begin the process of determining if private nutrition counselling is most appropriate for your recovery needs.
